Jakob Bangsø is proud to be welcomed into the family of Augustine Artists as they launch their brand new PARAGON string line which delivers a bright crisp tone along with a powerful projection.
By developing the first nylon guitar strings in collaboration with guitar maestro Andrés Segovia in the mid 1940’s, Albert Augustine invented a new standard for classical guitarists that has stood the test of time for over seven decades.
Augustine Paragon strings epitomise Augustine’s continued dedication to delivering excellence while representing a modern fusion of timelessness and authenticity.
Jakob Bangsø uses a mixture of Paragon High Tension trebles, Augustine Blue basses and Regal Red (1st string)

PREMIERE OF NEW WORK FOR SOLO GUITAR BY ANDREJA ANDRIC
Effervescence (2018) for guitar was premiered at The House Festival in Aarhus, Denmark, on July 18th 2018.
"With an abundance of music recordings of every genre and from every time period in the past 1000 years and beyond, available on a click, and with frequent copyright lawsuits among the most beloved pop music creators, often a question gets asked: haven't all the possibilities for ordering music notes been already exhausted?
The question seems difficult, so let's try answering an easier one: have we exhausted all the possibilities for ordering notes that belong to only one chord? Say, the preferred one on guitar, the e-minor?
This work contains 165 possibilities out of 6561 selections and orderings of 4 out of 9 notes of e-minor chord. It is evident on the face of it that many of them have never occurred to anyone, so the answer to the above question is a resolute no. We haven't explored the possibility of music even within a single chord, let alone in the whole area of possible elements of music expression.
Accidentally the result of the above procedure turned out to be quite difficult to play, so it turned out to be a fulfillment of my long time wish: to write a truly virtuoso piece that would be at least something of a challenge for my dear friend Jakob Bangsø.
Being entirely created from notes of a single chord, Effervescence is also something of an ultimate mood piece, an eternal presence of shimmering sound in perpetual flux."

World premiere of Danish/American composer Wayne Siegel's guitar concerto with DiamantEnsemblet at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.
Dedicated to Jakob Bangsø, Chaconne (2017) for guitar and chamber orchestra was commissioned with support from the Danish Arts Foundation and premiered by Jakob and the DiamantEnsemblet at the Royal Library, Copenhagen, on Feb. 21st 2017.
An excerpt from the composer's program note reads:
My guitar concerto is composed in single movement and, except in the very beginning, the piece is constructed as a strict chaconne. The piece opens with the soloist searching his memory, trying to recall a forgotten melody. Once he has “remembered” the 10-bar melody, it is repeated consistently and regularly as a ground bass with changing instrumentation and varying textures during the entire piece. I found it both challenging and inspiring to compose a work with only one simple melody, recalling the words of Igor Stravinsky: “My freedom thus consists in my moving about within the narrow frame that I have assigned to myself for each one of my undertakings.”
The world premiere performance was broadcast by the Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR P2) and can be found here.
